Speedsurfing is also known as the formula one of windpowered
watersports. Speeds far above 70 km/h let the adrenaline boil in your
blood. Speedsurfing is a discipline only against the clock over a
defined distance of 500, 250 or 100 metres.
You need perfect conditions; Flat water and offshore
winds with at least force seven on a broad reach - and sailing down the
wind on an angle of 150 degrees isn't as easy as it seems to be...
The World Record for windsurfers (the WSSRC 10 sqm class) is held by
Finian Maynard since Dec. 3rd, 2003 with a speed of 46.24 knots over the
500 metres distance.
The Outright Record of Yellow Pages Endeavour is only 0.25 knots away.
But the day will come, and YP will go down !
