FT Class Rules
Formula Training (FT) Draft Class rules.
1. Purpose of the class.
Formula Training is intended as a first level competition class. In particular but not exclusive for children between 8 and 13 years of age.
2. Position of the class
Formula Training is a feeder for the ISAF Recognized Formula Experience Class. Typically, children will transfer from FT to FE at ages between 12 and 14 depending on skill level.
3. Administration
FT is administrated by the Formula Experience Class Committee and serves as a division within Formula Experience
4. Boards
Construction: thermoformed skinned boards (known as ASA boards)
Maximum length: 3000 mm overall
Max width: 1005 mm
Min weight: 12 kilo (hull only)
Fins and Foils: One fin and one center foil may be fitted.
Maximum length of fin and/or foil: 700mm* Only original fins supplied by the manufacturer can be fitted.
Mast track: a mast track may be fitted
5. Rigs
Sail: Division A. Maximum 5.5m2. No cambers allowed. A maximum of 7 full length battens
Sail: Division B. Maximum 7.5m2. Maximum of 3 cambers. A maximum of 7 full length battens
Mast: the mast shall comply with the FE class rules
Boom: the boom shall be constructed out of alloy (aluminum)
6. For local/regional or national only racing, the class rules may be adapted, changed, limited or expanded to suit the local circumstances.
For boards that allow fitting of side fins, two side fins may be used to replace the center foil.
