Golden Rules

The head judge sets a “competition area”. During your heat sail in this area this is where the judges concentrate their attention. (Maneuvers completed outside this are judged however they are much more difficult to see) The free sailing area (i.e. the practice area) is also marked on the notice board usually downwind of the competition area.

If you sail in the competition area while not in your heat you will be disqualified (This is the golden rule with bells on. It is impossible to judge other sailors fairly if the competition area is full of free sailors)

Sail streamers must be picked up before your heat and returned directly after your heat from the beach notice board. (Use the colour streamer allocated to you not the one that matches your sail please!!!!!!!!) This again is for the judge’s benefit, imagine trying to judge a heat with three or four streamers the same colour.

A €10 deposit, refundable on a decision in your favour must accompany formal protests.

Judging a wave event is very hard work and takes a lot of skill, experience and concentration. There is absolutely no, none, nada, niento, non, occhi, nein reason to ask the judges anything during competition or bug them in anyway. You can examine your score sheets afterwards. Judges decisions are not always welcomed or indeed agreed with however they are final. Thank you for your attention and understanding.

Unsportsman like conduct will result in disqualification and worse still we will talk about you behind your back. We all sail in the same sport and we do care, if you have something to say we will gladly discuss it over a beer. Thank you all for your attention.
